4th Grade Rules

  • Federation rules will apply with the following exceptions below:


  • Ball Size:
  • 27.5 size ball
  • Time:
  • (4) 8 - minute quarters stopped time
  • Fouls:
  • 5 Personal Fouls
  • 7 Team Fouls - Single Bonus
  • 10 Team Fouls - Double Bonus
  • Free Throws:
  • Girls - 13 feet with NO JUMPING over the line.
  • Boys - 15 feet with JUMPING over the line.
  • 3 Pointers
  • Will be allowed
  • Timeouts:
  • (3) Full Timeouts
  • (2) 30 second timeouts

federation exceptions

  • Overtime:
  • 3:00 minutes in duration.
  • Pressing is only allowed in final minute.
  • (1) Full timeout - NO CARRYOVER
  • There is no minimum or adjustment to overtimes. Need to play as many overtimes necessary to complete the game with a winner. (Added, 2/3/2025)
  • Pressing:
  • No pressing until the final minute of the game
  • Cannot press if lead is greater than 4 points.
  • Violation of rules:
  • 2 Warnings
  • 3rd Warning - Technical Foul (2 shots)

DEFEnsive Rules

  • Man to Man ONLY - ZONE DEFENSE IS NOT ALLOWED
  • Must be within 2-3 arm lengths of your player.
  • Violation of rule:
  • 2 Warnings
  • 3rd Warning - Technical Foul (2 shots)
  • NO TRAPPING -
  • When a defensive player leaves the person, they are assigned to guard (is more than two steps from them) and double teams an offensive player, a double-teaming violation occurs. A Double-Teaming situation is not created when the offensive player "beats" their man and another defensive player comes over to help. 
  • Violation of Rule
  • 2 Warnings
  • 3rd Warning - Technical Foul (2 shots)
  • Switching:
  • Is allowed.
  • Must be vocalized by player.
  • Help-side defense is highly recommended which means:
  • Players can help within the 3 point line, but must be within a guard able distance from their person at all times.
  • Violation of Rule
  • 2 Warnings
  • 3rd Warning - Technical Foul (2 shots)
  • Offense:
  • Isolation(4 corner) plays are prohibited.
  • Fighting
  • Zero Tolerance
  • Players(s) will be immediately removed from game.
  • Minimum of 2 game suspension and possibility of league ban.
  • Referee discretion for any fighting if it involves multiple parties.
  • Technical Foul Policy:
  • FCBL Technical Foul Policy is in place.
